Job Overview:

The Position

We are in search of a proactive individual with foundational accounting expertise, adept time management capabilities, and the ability to prioritize and juggle multiple tasks while demonstrating a desire to deepen knowledge in back-office functions. The Brokerage Operations Specialist will be tasked with providing exceptional service to both internal and external clients, including correspondents, service teams, and capital markets, by ensuring timely and precise transaction settlements in compliance with established policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. The associate will engage with various internal and external systems and collaborate with Dividends, Corporate Actions, International Settlements, Purchase & Sales, Treasury, and NF Risk to facilitate Delivery vs. Payment/Receive vs. Payment/Prime Broker & Executing Broker transactions. Additional responsibilities include:
  • Assessing and managing exceptions arising from trade discrepancies, corporate action events, and modifications to settled or forthcoming trades.
  • Establishing and nurturing relationships with contra party Prime and Executing Brokers to fulfill regulatory documentation requirements for institutional clients.
The Qualifications and Skills You Offer
  • Preferred college degree; 2-4 years of relevant settlement experience or 3-5 years of brokerage experience.
  • Capability to identify and manage risk-related transactions and ensure appropriate escalation.
  • Strong analytical abilities with a focus on reconciling and balancing various settlement accounts.
  • Familiarity with DTC.
  • Working knowledge of industry regulations and firm policies and procedures.
  • Meticulous attention to detail while maintaining efficiency and effectiveness (time management).
  • Effective communication skills with internal and external business units.
  • Highly motivated with the ability to multitask and complete assigned duties accurately and on time.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong proficiency in internal systems and PC applications, particularly Excel.
The Team

As part of the OSG organization, the Institutional team is dedicated to supporting both internal and external institutional clients. We handle trade exceptions and maintain ongoing communication with clients until resolution is achieved. The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively is crucial for fostering a cohesive team environment, ensuring the timely and accurate settlement of DVP/RVP transactions while adhering to regulatory guidelines.
