Position Overview

Licensed Athletic Trainer

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia is seeking a dedicated Licensed Athletic Trainer to enhance our vibrant athletic program. This role is integral to fostering a supportive environment for student-athletes and ensuring their health and safety during athletic activities.

The Athletic Trainer will oversee a comprehensive range of training services, focusing on the prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of sports-related injuries. Our athletic program features numerous interscholastic sports across multiple seasons, and this position is a full-time role with a commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide medical coverage for home athletic events and practices.
  • Conduct pre-game and pre-practice preparations, including taping.
  • Maintain confidential communication with student-athletes, parents, coaches, and medical professionals regarding athletes' health and readiness.
  • Evaluate and treat injuries, offering functional rehabilitation to student-athletes.
  • Keep accurate medical records, including injury documentation and pre-participation forms.
  • Collaborate with the Student Support Team to support injured athletes.
  • Manage all physicals and recertification documentation.
  • Administer pre-season requirements, including concussion training and impact testing.
  • Implement and supervise safety policies related to weather conditions and emergency protocols.
  • Educate athletes and staff on injury prevention and wellness practices.
  • Facilitate appropriate medical referrals when necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the athletic training facilities.
  • Serve as Game Manager for home contests as needed.
  • Assist with the distribution and collection of athletic uniforms.
  • Coordinate transportation logistics for athletic events.
  • Adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines set forth by governing athletic bodies.
  • Support the mission and values of the Athletic Department and the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
  • Manage inventory and ordering of training supplies annually.
  • Provide athletic training services during summer sports camps.
  • Be available for evening, weekend, and holiday commitments.
  • Travel as required for playoff events.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

Qualifications:

  • NATABOC certification in good standing and valid PA licensure.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Completion of a CAATE-accredited Athletic Training Education Program.
  • 1-3 years of experience in athletic training, preferably in a secondary school setting.
  • Current CPR certification (ARC Professional Rescuer or AHA BLS).
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficient in managing multiple tasks and working under pressure.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and commitment to student-athlete development.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to engage with diverse groups.
  • Physical capability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds.

The selected candidate will be required to pass all necessary background checks and complete training as mandated by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
