About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Corporate Litigation Specialist to join our team at Schillings. As a key member of our Legal Department, you will play a critical role in handling litigation and corporate matters, contracts, and other areas handled by the department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drafting and Reviewing Legal Documents: Draft, review, and file pleadings, motions, and other pre- and post-judgment litigation documents.
  • Contract Management: Draft, issue, and answer discovery, subpoenas, or other document requests.
  • Corporate Governance: Review, draft, and edit contracts and policies, as well as draft corporate documents such as annual reports, resolutions, operating agreements, and corporate governance documents.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct legal research for litigation matters, regulatory requirements, and general legal matters required by Schillings.
  • Administrative Support: Assist the Human Resources Department on policy and legal-related issues, and collaborate with the Accounts Receivable Department in analyzing new accounts, tracking and reviewing sworn statements, mechanic's lien notices, releases, and waivers.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain and document all records of the Legal Department, including monitoring all claims and deadlines.
  • Administrative Tasks: Handle administrative tasks and matter intake for the Legal Department.
  • Real Estate Support: Draft and review all real estate-related documents for Schilling Development and assist with any filings for governmental approval.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Assist with legal needs of The Shrine of Christ's Passion.
Requirements
  • Experience: A minimum of 7 years of relevant corporate and litigation experience, such as civil litigation, contract review, employment matters, real estate, corporate governance, with in-house experience being a plus.
  • Skills: Superior understanding of MS Office and/or Office 365 suite, ability to use web-based programs, and strong analytical skills with the ability to learn new systems and processes.
  • Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree and paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved school is preferred.
  • Language: Familiarity with both Illinois and Indiana legal procedures is preferred.
