Job Title: Automation and Control Systems Specialist

Location: Carrollton, GA

Duration: Full-Time Employment

Essential Qualifications:
  • At least 8 years of experience in the design, commissioning, troubleshooting, and/or operation of PLCs.
  • Expertise in process and control systems specifically for combustion management.
  • Note: This role focuses on PLC processes and controls, not database management.
  • Hands-on presence on the shop floor with technicians is required.
  • Willingness to travel internationally approximately 35% of the time.
  • Primary work location will be in Carrollton, GA.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, maintain, and commission automation and control systems for industrial machinery.
  • Create and program logic for PLCs, drive systems, and combustion control mechanisms.
  • Develop SCADA and operator interface applications.
  • Design databases and write custom software for PLC and SCADA system integration.
  • Utilize standard procedures to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical components, diagnosing and resolving issues effectively.
  • Produce technical manuals and electrical schematics using CAD software.
  • Generate scope of work, cost estimates, and budgets for electrical systems.
  • Acquire comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of client systems, including fluid systems, operations, metallurgy, maintenance, material handling, furnace systems, and hands-on machine operation.
  • Assist in the on-site commissioning of all components of client systems.
  • Transfer knowledge to clients through training, discussions, presentations, and startup support.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the chemical or manufacturing sectors, including industrial processing equipment, instrumentation and control, AC and DC drives, PLCs, and combustion systems.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley or Siemens PLCs and drive systems.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, particularly AutoCAD.
  • Experience with SCADA systems and HMI applications.
  • Strong skills in computer programming, networking, databases, and reporting.
  • Ability to maintain up-to-date technical knowledge and develop into a subject matter expert.
  • Willingness to travel internationally: 35%.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, presentation, interpersonal, and project management skills are essential.
