Qualifications:

  • Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution or completion of an approved LPN/LVN program.
  • Experience in long-term care settings is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Valid and unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the state of practice.
  • Current certification in CPR.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee daily operations of nursing assistants in alignment with regulations and facility protocols.
  2. Ensure nursing staff adherence to established policies and procedures.
  3. Engage in the processes of resident admissions, discharges, and transfers.
  4. Monitor changes in residents' conditions, notifying physicians and documenting as required.
  5. Administer prescribed medications and conduct wound care as directed by physicians.
  6. Coordinate follow-up appointments and provide leadership in nursing practices.
  7. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to deliver end-of-life care.
  8. Maintain adequate inventory of medications, supplies, and equipment.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Treat all residents with respect and dignity.
  • Foster a culture of compliance with facility policies.
  • Adhere to safety and hygiene protocols consistently.
  • Safeguard the confidentiality of health information and report any noncompliance.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness drills and follow infection control measures.

Skills and Physical Requirements:

  • Effective communication skills and ability to make independent decisions.
  • Patience and capability to manage challenging situations.
  • Must not pose a risk to the health and safety of others.
  • Ability to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergencies.
  • Capability to perform the physical tasks required for the role.
  • Exposure to infectious diseases and challenging resident behaviors may occur.

Adherence to facility standards, policies, and procedures is a condition of employment. Violations may lead to disciplinary measures.
