Sunrise Senior Living is seeking a skilled Maintenance Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for performing maintenance and housekeeping duties to ensure a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for our residents, guests, and team members.
Key Responsibilities- Perform general maintenance duties, including repairs and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and vehicles.
- Assist with housekeeping functions, including cleaning and maintaining resident suites, common areas, and community grounds.
- Conduct routine maintenance on all Sunrise vehicles and equipment.
- Participate in fire drills and disaster preparedness programs.
- Assist with working on heating and air conditioning systems, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance as directed by supervisor and according to safety regulations.
- One (1) year maintenance and/or housekeeping experience preferred.
- Technical school education preferred.
- Demonstrates a general understanding of systems such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical and code compliance.
- Maintains a current applicable driver's license to drive Sunrise vehicles provided with an acceptable driving record in accordance with applicable regulations and Sunrise policy.
- Possess a general understanding of OSHA/British Columbia Workers Compensation Act and Occupational Health and Safety Regulation/Equivalent regulating authorities for Quebec, fire prevention, and life and safety regulations.
- Ability to respond to emergency calls outside of scheduled work hours.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Possess written and verbal skills for effective communication.
- Competent in organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrates good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills.
