We are looking for a Middle School Science Educator to teach grades 5-8 who is dedicated, ambitious, and committed to fostering student success and educational reform.
Qualified candidates should demonstrate a record of achievement, a high degree of personal responsibility, and the drive to ensure that every child achieves academic success.
This individual must be committed to excellence, lead by example, and view collaboration as essential to success. Successful candidates will possess a strong sense of urgency to enhance student learning.Key Responsibilities:
- Familiarity with Common Core Standards.
- Tailoring curriculum to address the diverse needs of students.
- Creating a classroom environment where students develop a passion for Science and enjoy exploring various strategies to solve scientific challenges.
- Employing an inquiry-based curriculum that emphasizes logic and reasoning.- Integrating technology into core instructional practices.
- Guiding students in their preparation for the NY State Science Exam.
- Developing weekly lesson plans aligned with NYS common core curriculum goals and employing diverse teaching strategies to engage and motivate students.
- Collaborating with colleagues to design units and lessons and enhance instructional expertise.- Gaining familiarity with school charter, standardized testing, and the overall school improvement plan, including performance goals for students.
- Utilizing assessments, classroom performance, and other evaluation tools to promptly gauge student progress, enabling small group instruction and identifying curricular and professional development needs.
- Establishing and maintaining an orderly, well-managed, and stimulating classroom environment.- Evaluating student academic and social growth, maintaining accurate records, preparing progress reports, and communicating with parents regarding individual student progress.
- Engaging in reflective practice to continuously enhance professional knowledge through participation in professional development opportunities.- Demonstrating strong time management, problem-solving, and communication skills.
This position reports to the school principal.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- NYS Teaching Certification or reciprocity from another state in the equivalent area is required.
- A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience at the middle school level is required.
- Familiarity with Microbiology, Hydroponics, and Science teaching curriculum is a plus.
- A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
- Candidates who do not meet the above qualifications will not be considered.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications, with a range of $56,811-$154,961.
