Position Details:

We are looking for a Science Educator for Middle School who will instruct students in grades 5-8. The ideal candidate will be dedicated, ambitious, and focused on student success and educational advancement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understanding of Common Core Standards.
  • Adapting curriculum to cater to diverse student needs.
  • Fostering a classroom environment where students are enthusiastic about Science and enjoy exploring various methods to solve scientific challenges.
  • Implementing an inquiry-based curriculum that emphasizes logical reasoning.
  • Incorporating technology into core instructional practices.
  • Guiding students in their preparation for state science assessments.
  • Creating weekly lesson plans aligned with state curriculum goals, employing a variety of teaching strategies to engage and motivate students.
  • Collaborating with peers to design units and lessons while enhancing instructional practices.
  • Familiarizing oneself with the school charter, standardized assessments, and overall educational objectives.
  • Utilizing assessments and performance metrics to monitor student progress and tailor instruction accordingly.
  • Establishing and maintaining an organized, stimulating classroom environment.
  • Assessing student academic and social development, maintaining accurate records, preparing progress reports, and communicating with families regarding individual student progress.
  • Engaging in continuous professional development to enhance teaching practices.
  • Exhibiting strong time management, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
  • This position reports directly to the school principal.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • New York State Teaching Certification or equivalent from another state required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience at the middle school level is required.
  • Familiarity with Microbiology, Hydroponics, and Science teaching methodologies is advantageous.
  • A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
