UPMC Shadyside is looking for an MRI Technologist/Advanced MRI Technician to enhance our team. Our technologists will be responsible for supporting both the Shadyside Main MRI department and the Hillman Cancer Center MRI department, with options for daylight/evening shifts or exclusively night shifts. Weekend, holiday, and on-call duties are part of the role.Final candidates will be assigned a job title that reflects their education, experience, and managerial discretion at the time of the offer.
Starting rate for MRI Technologist: $30.27/hour.
Starting rate for Advanced MRI Technologist: $32.39/hour.
Responsibilities of MRI Technologist:
- Maintain clinical proficiency for all examinations and equipment.
- Ensure accurate patient identification using two identifiers and adhere to universal protocols during procedures.
- Review patient history and assess physician orders, applying departmental protocols for optimal data acquisition, including contrast preparation and administration.
- Document patient history in electronic records as required.
- Prior to examinations, present all relevant information to the physician based on established protocols.
- Ensure all exams are properly coded and tracked through the RIS system, networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and that all charges are accurately entered.
- Uphold MR safety standards within the department.
- Conduct weekly ACR Phantom testing.
Responsibilities of Advanced MRI Technologist:
- Assist Clinical Specialist with QA, regulatory testing, and technical research initiatives.
- Demonstrate proficiency in operating specialty equipment, analyze data promptly, and complete quality control tasks.
- Support the training of staff and students.
- Exhibit the ability to work independently, covering shifts, on-call responsibilities, and providing services at satellite facilities as needed, while maintaining communication with the lead and management team.
- Respond promptly to medical editing requests.
- Engage in standardization activities with system-level workgroups.
Requirements for MRI Technologist:
- Graduate from an ARRT accredited Radiologic Technology program or completion of an accredited CNMT, ARMRIT, or ARDMS program.
- Must achieve MR registry within 18 months of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required.
- CPR certification must comply with AHA standards, including both didactic and skills demonstration components.
- ARRT Certificate or equivalent certification required.
- Act 34 clearance.
- Completion of formal training in an MRI-related program accredited by ARRT or ARMRIT.
- Minimum of 2 years of MRI experience required.
- Must have received a strong/solid/good performance review rating on the most recent evaluation to qualify for promotion.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- ARRT MR Certified or equivalent certification required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required.
- CPR certification must comply with AHA standards, including both didactic and skills demonstration components.
- ARRT Certificate required.
- Act 34 clearance.
