Job Summary and Qualifications

The Registered Nurse demonstrates advanced knowledge and skills, understanding the unique aspects of the population served in patient care. Each service requires specialized skills, and care delivery is based on the physical, psychosocial, cultural, safety, and learning needs of individual patients. The Registered Nurse may rotate to areas outside of their assigned service area and will perform only those duties for which they have demonstrated competency. The Registered Nurse executes delegated duties consistent with their scope of practice and aligns with the overall care delivery philosophy at SMC.

Qualifications Required:
  • Current licensure in the State of Colorado as a Registered Nurse or current active multistate nursing licensure.
  • Current BLS Certification through AHA or ARC.
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Minimum one year of OR nursing experience preferred.
  • Verification of competencies in relevant procedures required.

Some of our neurosurgical procedures include:

  • Deep brain stimulation (DBS) for debilitating neurological conditions such as movement disorders.
  • Surgical management of epilepsy, including resection, laser ablation, stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG), DBS, responsive neurostimulation (RNS), and vagus nerve stimulation (VNS).
  • Functional surgery for chronic craniofacial, spinal, and extremity pain disorders.
  • Stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) to treat intracranial tumors, functional disorders, vascular malformations, and neurological disorders.
