Key Responsibilities- Project Management: Oversee and manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion, budget adherence, and quality control.
- Design and Engineering: Provide engineering design, analysis, and direction to staff as necessary to complete various capital improvement projects, including road way design and maintenance, concrete improvement, ADA compliant modifications to public right of way, storm drain improvements, grading and drainage plans, erosion and sediment control, slope repair plans, etc.
- Client Management: Serve as the primary contact with clients and approving agencies, ensuring effective communication and project coordination.
- Staff Management: Manage professional and technical staff, providing guidance, direction, and support to ensure project success.
- Contract Administration: Manage contract administration, including preparation and review of construction cost estimates, RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, change orders, materials testing, and various contractor reports.
- Quality Control: Ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and industry standards, providing engineer's stamp as necessary.
- Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and present project reports, contracts, amendments, memorandums, and other documents required for project completion.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Licensure: California registered Professional Engineer (PE) required.
- Certification: Certified Qualified Stormwater Practitioner (QSP) and Qualified Stormwater Designer (QSD) required.
- Experience: 10-15 years of design or construction experience in municipal work (public or private).
- Civil Engineering Concepts: Understanding of civil engineering concepts and applications.
- Municipal Processes: Understanding of municipal and federal processes for capital improvement projects.
- Engineering Tools: Familiarity with engineering tools used by staff.
- Software Skills: Proficient with Word, Excel, Adobe PDF, and/or Blubeam applications.
- Communication: Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Organizational: Organized and structured to manage multiple projects, clients, staff, and schedules concurrently.
- Estimated Travel Time: 25% requirement to travel, including site visits, design review meetings, client meetings, and as necessary City Council or Planning Commission meetings.
