Job Overview

The Senior Patient Access Services Representative is responsible for executing a range of registration, insurance verification, scheduling, and billing tasks that facilitate both inpatient and outpatient access to healthcare services. This role involves handling complex responsibilities and may include mentoring or training other representatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts admissions, registration, and scheduling processes. Gathers essential demographic and insurance details and inputs data into the system, including patients enrolled in Medicare/Medicaid.
  • Confirms patient insurance coverage and related information. Secures necessary insurance authorizations for services; records authorization approvals and denials in the system; may assess financial situations of self-pay patients, whether pre-registered or inpatient/outpatient, to determine payment methods; provides guidance to patients or their representatives regarding available financial assistance; collects payments due from patients at the time of service; may perform billing and accounts receivable functions.
  • May manage outstanding self-pay accounts, including tracking monthly payment arrangements for collection purposes.
  • Assists in training new staff as directed by supervisors or managers.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience is required.
