Job Description

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Support Specialist to join our team at Access. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will work closely with individuals in mental health or substance use recovery, providing advocacy, outreach, and support to help them achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide peer counseling and support to individuals in various community settings, including their homes and community centers.
  • Assist participants in identifying their own warning signs of relapse and developing individual coping strategies and crisis prevention tools.
  • Use tools such as the Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) to help peers create their own individual wellness and recovery plans.
  • Support participants in securing housing, connecting them to community resources, and working with their natural support system.
  • Communicate and collaborate with participants' treatment providers and participate in staff meetings and case conferences.

Requirements:

  • Certification or Provisional Certification as a Peer Specialist or Recovery Peer Advocate.
  • Adequate writing and computer skills for completion of reports, case notes, and other documentation.
  • Personal lived experience with mental illness or substance abuse.
  • Ability to navigate telehealth via video and conference calling.
  • Knowledge of travel within Westchester County and a valid NYS Driver's License.

Travel Requirements: 60-70% of time spent in the field.
