Job Summary

As a key member of the Northwestern University Alumni Relations and Development team, the Associate Director, Leadership Annual Giving will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive strategy to identify, cultivate, and solicit leadership annual giving donors. This role will involve building and maintaining relationships with high-level donors, developing and implementing individual engagement plans, and personally soliciting gifts to support the university's annual giving goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a strategic plan to identify, cultivate, and solicit leadership annual giving donors
  • Build and maintain relationships with high-level donors, including regular communication and personalized outreach
  • Develop and implement individual engagement plans to increase donor participation and giving
  • Personally solicit gifts from leadership annual giving donors, including renewals, upgrades, and reactivations
  • Manage select members of two boards, each consisting of 30-45 diverse, high-level volunteers, to inspire philanthropy through program engagement, peer-to-peer engagement, and leadership annual giving-level solicitations
  • Recruit new Board members in partnership with team leaders
  • Strengthen the donor pipeline by renewing and upgrading donors' annual gifts while qualifying and referring donor prospects for major gift and planned giving programs
Requirements
  • Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience
  • 4 years development, marketing, sales or the equivalent experience is required
  • Excellent communications skills, strong writing and presentation skills, and strong interpersonal skills are required
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in a team environment and discretion to interact with high-level donors and maintain confidentiality
  • Computer skills, familiarity/comfort working in a Windows software environment, and familiarity with fundraising/relational databases is a plus
