We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Technologist/Technician to join our team at Stony Brook Medicine. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for providing clinical services to our patient population and ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety.
Key Responsibilities- Perform paraffin and embed biopsy, routine surgical specimens, placenta, autopsy, and research tissue.
- Operate microtomes to produce 2-5 micron sections.
- Stain, coverslip, and case assemble, label, and distribute prepared histology sections.
- Follow protocols for LIS systems, including Copath, Ventana Benchmark, Ultra, Symphony, Vantage, and Copath.
- Complete routine and special requests for additional levels, recuts, special stains, and immunohistochemistry.
- Perform special stains and immunohistochemistry used in diagnostic histopathology.
- Rotate responsibility for laboratory instrumentation maintenance and perform necessary tasks.
- Assist pathologists with grossing biopsy specimens.
- BS degree in biology, medical technology, or other life sciences, or AAS degree from an accredited program in Histotechnology.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- HT (ASCP) or eligible.
- Minimum one year Histology clinical laboratory experience, including special stains, immunohistochemistry staining, and microtomy.
