Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Program Specialist to join our team at AltaPointe Health. As a Program Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional care and support to our consumers, while also contributing to the development and implementation of our clinical programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide ongoing monitoring and documentation of consumer progress, ensuring timely and accurate completion of required documentation.
  • Engage consumers in planned activities, promoting their safety, well-being, and participation in treatment.
  • Assist consumers with personal care, medical appointments, and daily living tasks, while also providing support to teachers during class time.
  • Ensure unit schedules are followed, and consumers are actively participating in planned activities.
  • Perform hand-off communication at shift change, ensuring seamless transitions and continuity of care.
  • Provide training on Basic Living Skills (BLS) and complete related documentation, as per treatment goals and team recommendations.
  • Lead program groups and activities, promoting consumer engagement and participation in treatment.
  • Complete Environment of Care (EOC) unit checklists and report findings to supervisor, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for consumers.
  • Collaborate with nursing, therapy, and recreation therapy staff to ensure effective milieu management and comprehensive care.
  • Respond to crisis situations, using proper interventions and de-escalation techniques to ensure consumer safety and well-being.
  • Ensure units, rooms, and common areas remain clean, tidy, and in good condition, promoting a positive and supportive environment for consumers.
  • Effectively communicate with treatment team members, sharing consumer progress, regression, and other relevant information to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Respect consumer confidentiality and maintain discretion when discussing consumer information with others.
  • Report consumer/staff problems to supervisor in a timely manner, ensuring prompt resolution and minimizing disruptions to care.
  • Participate in Performance Improvement activities, completing tasks in a timely manner and following policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in a mental health discipline or Social Work preferred.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric disorders in child and adolescent populations, growth and development, and principles of play therapy.
  • Knowledge of behavior management, crisis intervention, and interventions common to acute psychotic consumers.
  • Knowledge of family dynamics, parenting issues, and effects and treatment of physical/sexual/emotional abuse and neglect.
  • Knowledge of community resources and cultural diversity.
  • Knowledge of educational methods and basic interventions for child and adolescent mental and behavioral health disorders.
