Position Overview: The Culinary Assistant plays a crucial role in preparing a diverse range of foods and ingredients, ensuring the highest standards of quality and resident satisfaction while maintaining cleanliness in the food service area.

Compensation: The starting wage for this role ranges from $17.25 to $20.56 per hour. Various factors, including the scope of responsibilities, candidate experience, education, job-related skills, and market considerations, may influence the offered salary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement sanitation and safety protocols during food preparation.
  • Prepare and produce ingredients and menu items as directed.
  • Cook meals according to established menus and recipes, adhering to dietary requirements.
  • Measure and mix food ingredients in accordance with recipes, ensuring compliance with food production methods and regulations.
  • Practice portion control during food preparation and service.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and equipment as per schedules and procedures.
  • Communicate any modifications or substitutions in daily menus to the supervisor.
  • Ensure proper labeling, dating, and rotation of food items in storage.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines while working.
  • Familiarize oneself with the food service disaster plan.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or GED required.

Experience: Previous experience in food service is preferred. Serve Safe Certification is a plus.

Knowledge: Must possess knowledge of safe food handling and preparation techniques. Understanding of best practices to minimize waste and misuse is essential. Ability to present food attractively and assess quality through taste and smell is required. Familiarity with preparing breakfast, lunch, and dinner entrees, as well as scratch soups, sauces, starches, and vegetables, is necessary.

The selected candidate must successfully complete Eskaton's post-offer, pre-employment assessments, which include a criminal background check, drug screening, COVID testing, TB screening, and health evaluation.
