Job Overview:

The Vice President of Business Selection & Conflicts Management is pivotal in overseeing the clearance of conflicts and the selection of business opportunities, often collaborating with the Regional or Global BSG leadership. In certain jurisdictions, this role also encompasses the management of the M&A pipeline. This position requires close interaction with various departments including Banking, Markets, Legal, Compliance, and Supervision.

The Business Selection & Conflicts Management Group (BSC) serves as the initial point of contact within Investment Banking for potential new business opportunities and inquiries regarding ongoing transactions. The BSC is responsible for clearing all new business mandates and ensuring that all confidentiality agreements are signed, effectively identifying and managing potential conflicts of interest. The group plays a crucial role in decision-making related to business selection, ensuring that the firm commits to the most promising opportunities. Additionally, BSC maintains a comprehensive repository of information regarding current and past transaction involvement.

BSC operates as a global entity with teams located in key financial hubs, facilitating daily interactions with investment bankers and various functions within Investment Banking, including legal, compliance, finance, and business operations. Given that all new investment banking mandates require analysis by BSC prior to acceptance, the team operates in a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment.

The Vice President position is based in New York and reports directly to the Head of Americas BSC. The Vice President is expected to take a leadership role in the conflict clearance process, frequently engaging with investment bankers worldwide and internal support teams. Ideal candidates will possess experience in M&A and/or capital markets transactions, along with the ability to analyze complex situations under tight deadlines. Strong communication skills and a collaborative spirit are essential for success in this role. The preferred candidate will have 3-6 years of transaction-oriented experience in a legal, business, or compliance-focused capacity.
