Job Summary

The Service Manager is responsible for overseeing all field labor, materials, profit, loss, project performance, and safety, as well as managing all field labor, subcontractors, and vendors in collaboration with the Services business unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Management: Meet or exceed all financial expectations, budgets, and goals, monitoring pricing, and reviewing cost data with Business Unit Manager.
  • Cash Position Management: Monitor and maintain the cash position of the business unit. Resolve dollar disputes between estimates and the company's actual cost.
  • Customer Relationships: Build and sustain customer relationships to ensure complete customer satisfaction.
  • Dispatch and Communication: Manage dispatch procedures and effective communications with field staff resources.
  • Field Labor Management: Manage all field labor with the business unit, including development of service teams and roles and responsibilities.
  • Personnel Management: Coordinate with Business Unit Manager regarding hiring and termination of all technicians, conducting performance reviews, recommending salary changes, resolving personnel issues, and the development of talent within the business unit.
  • Productivity Improvements: Initiate technician labor productivity improvements in partnership with the Field Supervisor(s) to ensure the quality of work to the company's standards and project requirements.
  • Estimation and Project Management: Estimate service repair and replacement projects.
  • Safety and Risk Management: Promote and be accountable for all aspects of Safety and Risk Management, including ensuring proper oversight of the Notice to Proceed, Signed Contracts, Contract Change Orders, Certificate of Insurance, and Bonds.
  • Quality Control: Assist Field Supervisor in regulating quality control on Service jobs.
  • Employee Morale and Retention: Ensure that employee morale and retention are kept at a high level.
  • Inventory and Tool Management: Maintain inventory and tool procurement for all service vehicles.
  • Continuing Education: Maintain a continuing education program for Service field personnel.
  • Services Orientation: Perform Services' orientation for new hires.
  • Project Coordination: Conduct project kick-off meetings to coordinate small jobs with Management.
  • Subcontractor and Vendor Management: Coordinate subs and vendors as related to Service jobs.
  • Software and Technology Development: Assist in the development of software and technology tools (Estimation and hand-held devices).
  • Staff Meetings: Participate in staff meetings with Business Unit Manager, addressing management issues as well as training, safety, and productivity improvements.
Requirements
  • Experience: 5+ years' experience in the service business.
  • Certification: NFPA 70 certification.
  • Leadership Skills: Organized and self-motivated, with the ability to lead a team of technicians.
  • Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to Detail: Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Industry Knowledge: Versed in the industry and the Company's competitors.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.
  • Software Skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a technical or business discipline.
Travel Requirements
  • Travel Percentage: 20% of time will be spent traveling to job site/office location.
Physical/Work Environment Requirements
  • Work Environment: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
