Position Overview
The HVAC Systems Engineer will play a crucial role within the Facilities Management Department, focusing on the design and optimization of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. This position is integral to the Engineering unit, which is responsible for strategic planning and operational assistance for campus utilities and building projects.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and management of HVAC systems for university building projects.
- Conduct engineering analyses to support planning and ensure efficient operations.
- Develop and review design standards for utility and building projects.
- Participate in the evaluation, construction, and maintenance of HVAC and other mechanical systems, ensuring they meet the university's operational needs effectively and economically.
- Review engineering plans and specifications, inspecting projects for compliance with established standards.
- Support project quality assurance and optimization of HVAC systems through building audits and research on energy efficiency measures.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop scopes of work for HVAC issues and assist in budgetary recommendations.
- Provide expertise in mechanical maintenance, addressing issues related to fluid flow and control systems.
- Prepare detailed reports outlining project progress, trends, and recommendations.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of three years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficient in HVAC system design and building commissioning.
- Strong understanding of HVAC mechanical equipment operation and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with NC Building, Mechanical, and Energy Codes, as well as ASHRAE Standards.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to foster positive relationships with stakeholders.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and CAD drafting using AutoCAD.
- Experience with HVAC load calculation and analysis software.
