Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Trauma Registrar II to join our team at MUSC Health & Medical University of SC. As a key member of our trauma registry team, you will be responsible for collecting, compiling, and maintaining accurate data on patients meeting inclusion criteria for entry into the trauma registry data system.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect and compile data on trauma patients, including demographics, clinical and follow-up data
  • Perform ICD-10-CM and AIS coding for all patients entered into the trauma registry
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other members of the trauma team to perform trauma registry functions
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to hospital performance improvement policies
  • Ensure concurrency of the trauma registry to meet ACS requirements
  • Abstract, assemble, enter, and code clinical data with 95% accuracy into computer database
  • Participate in quality assurance and improvement activities to ensure accuracy of data collection and timely submission of data
  • Collaborate with Trauma Medical Director, Trauma Program Manager, and PI Coordinator to analyze quality and benchmarking performance outcomes
Requirements:
  • Completion of a medical terminology course and knowledge of basic anatomy
  • Completion of the American Trauma Registrar Course - Basic and Advanced, ICD-10 coding course and AIS Course
  • Understanding of quality assurance and performance improvement, as well as effective interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of data analysis and report writing preferred
Working Conditions:

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent deadlines and multiple priorities. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
