Job Summary

Pine Street Inn is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Outreach Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will provide outreach, engagement, and case management services to individuals experiencing homelessness in Boston.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct outreach and engagement activities to identify chronically homeless individuals and provide assessment, service planning, and referrals for substance abuse, health, and mental health care.
  • Work closely with the Coordinated Access System to match individuals with needed services and a housing pathway.
  • Assess individuals on the streets, diverting them from homelessness whenever possible.
  • Provide case management services to a complex and vulnerable population, utilizing a client-centered approach.
  • Collaborate with community partners to ensure a comprehensive response to the needs of individuals experiencing homelessness.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED, and a minimum of 2 years' experience working with a homeless population and delivering community-based case management services.
  • Valid MA driver's license in good standing and an acceptable driving record.
  • Knowledge and experience providing case management services to a complex and vulnerable population.
  • High degree of cultural sensitivity and ability to work effectively with diverse people and situations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with HMIS systems or customer databases.
  • Strong demonstrated experience in applying motivational interviewing and stage of change work.
  • Training in and/or experience providing services to racial, cultural, and ethnically diverse populations.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish, English/Haitian-Creole) strongly preferred.
Physical Abilities/Skills
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to respond safely and quickly in case of emergency situations.
  • Ability to travel to and access multiple sites on the streets and within the community.
