Job Overview

Eastridge Workforce Solutions is collaborating with a prominent chain of multi-department stores in search of a Forklift Maintenance Technician. This role is essential for ensuring the optimal performance of equipment within the distribution center.

Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of this position is to maintain and repair various equipment, fixtures, and infrastructure within the distribution center. This includes all lift trucks and mobile machinery. Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct maintenance and repairs on carts, pallet jacks, reach trucks, stock pickers, turret trucks, sweepers, scrubbers, and forklift attachments.
  • Service and maintain battery chargers, batteries, and other necessary equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on all lift trucks.
  • Assist in monitoring equipment process parameters to execute predictive and preventative maintenance, documenting data in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Manage inventory of spare parts, specialized items, and tools.
  • Utilize computers and maintenance diagnostic tools, including analog and digital multi-meters, pyrometers, and photo-tachometers.
  • Diagnose equipment failures, identify parts and material needs, and carry out repairs to restore production equipment functionality.
  • Communicate effectively with team members.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of all equipment, workstations, and the facility.
  • Repair and maintain hydraulic systems, air compressors, and fire safety systems.
  • Weld, cut, design, and repair aluminum and steel structures and devices.
  • Oversee building maintenance, including electrical systems and plumbing.
  • Perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in plumbing, blueprint reading, general building maintenance, hydraulic and electrical systems.
  • At least 4 years of experience in forklift repair or a combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation abilities.
  • Proficient in mathematical concepts applicable to practical situations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret various instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Willingness to work weekends, nights, overtime, and holidays as required.
  • Familiarity with industry terminology and distribution center processes.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to ongoing education as necessary.
  • Proficient in operating special equipment and tools, including hand trucks and power lift equipment.
  • Valid driver's license is required.

Work Schedule:

  • 10-hour and 12-hour shifts.
  • Day, night, and holiday shifts.
  • Overtime and weekend work as needed.

Experience Requirements:

  • General building and facility maintenance: 1 year (Required).
  • Plumbing, welding, and electrical: 1 year (Required).
  • HVAC, carpentry, and mechanical skills: 1 year (Required).
  • Experience with hand and power tools: 1 year (Required).

License/Certification:

  • Driver's License (Required).
