About the Role

The YMCA of Metro Atlanta is seeking a dedicated and experienced Afterschool Counselor to join our team. As a key member of our after-school program, you will be responsible for leading a group of elementary-age children in various planned activities that support their academic and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement engaging activities that align with the program's goals and objectives.
  • Provide guidance and support to children in a group setting, promoting social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Collaborate with the Afterschool Program Director and Site Director to ensure program compliance with YMCA and Bright from the Start regulations.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and other relevant program data.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Contribute to the planning and development of the program, ensuring a high-quality experience for children and families.
Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must possess a minimum credential that meets BFTS requirements and a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Have prior experience working with school-age children in a group setting.
  • Hold current evidence of successful completion of biennial training in CPR/First Aid.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software and internet technology platforms.
  • Must receive a cleared GCIC/NCIC and a cleared Fingerprint check through Bright From the Start before working.
