Job Overview

The Training Simulator Testing unit plays a vital role in deploying cutting-edge, high-fidelity simulators for the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program (NNPP).

These advanced simulators are essential for the effective training and qualification of Naval Nuclear Operators within the NNPP training framework.

In this role, the engineer will engage in various phases of initial design, testing, and deployment of simulators to NNPP training commands.

This position offers significant visibility and necessitates close collaboration with fellow engineers at NNL, as well as interaction with external organizations, including Naval Reactors.

Relocation assistance is available, and the role may require limited travel (approximately 10%).


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or science-related discipline from an accredited institution, coupled with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field from an accredited institution with qualification as a Naval Nuclear Plant Operator and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience demonstrating exceptional performance; or
  • Master's degree in engineering or a science-related discipline from an accredited institution with at least 7 years of relevant experience; or
  • Master's degree in a technical field from an accredited institution with qualification as a Naval Nuclear Plant Operator and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience based on exceptional performance trends.

Additionally, candidates may qualify through other means such as Shift Supervisor Part II qualifications, or having 6 years as SRE with 9 years of experience.


Preferred Skills
  • Experience in conducting shipboard or simulator test programs.
  • Familiarity with S9G mechanics or comparable experience.

Salary Range

The annual salary for this position ranges from $103,000 to $161,100, based on the candidate's experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

All candidates must be U.S. citizens and will undergo a Federal background investigation to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
