Medical Lab Tech Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Lab Tech to join our team at UNC Health Care. As a Medical Lab Tech, you will play a critical role in our laboratory operations, performing a wide range of testing sections, including blood bank, coagulation, hematology, chemistry, and urinalysis.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of routine and standardized tests using standard techniques and equipment.
  • Prepare specimens, resolve specimen problems, and perform analytical tests.
  • Label and store specimens, and prepare reagents and assist in the preparation of standard and control materials.
  • Monitor levels of reagents and assist in maintaining supplies.
  • Record results of tests and maintain records, and provide test results, reporting deviations from the norm to supervisor or ordering physician.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technician, Chemical Science, or Biological Science.
  • ASCP or AMT Board of Certification (BOC) required.
  • Two years of experience in an acute hospital setting.

Work Schedule

This position will require the Medical Technologist to work specifically on weekend nights, Friday - Monday, 6:30pm—7:00 pm. This position is eligible for weekend plus night shift differentials.

This position is located at UNC Rockingham Health Care in Eden, NC.
