Job Summary

We are seeking a per diem Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at UNC Rockingham Health Care. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a crucial role in our operations, covering a wide range of testing sections, including blood bank, coagulation, hematology, chemistry, and urinalysis.

Responsibilities
  • Instruct patients in preparing for tests that require fasting and answer patient questions regarding the tests.
  • Maintain equipment and investigate problems with equipment.
  • Assist in teaching Clinical Laboratory Science students and Pathology residents and training of new employees.
  • Monitor daily operation of laboratory section or work area.
  • Participate on teams or individually perform special projects/assignments.
  • Perform a variety of routine and standardized tests using standard techniques and equipment.
  • Prepare specimens, resolve specimen problems, and perform analytical tests.
  • Record results of tests and maintain records.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technician, Chemical Science, or Biological Science.
  • ASCP or AMT Board of Certification eligible and must receive BOC within a year if Associate's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technician.
  • MLT (ASCP) or MLT (AMT) Board of Certification required if Associate's degree in chemical or biological science.
Work Environment

This position is employed by NC Health (Rex Healthcare, Inc., d/b/a NC Health), a private, fully-owned subsidiary of UNC Health Care System. This is not a State employed position.
