Medical Lab Tech Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Lab Tech to join our team at UNC Health. As a Medical Lab Tech, you will play a crucial role in our laboratory operations, covering a wide range of testing sections, including blood bank, coagulation, hematology, chemistry, and urinalysis.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain equipment and investigate problems with equipment.
  • Assist in teaching Clinical Laboratory Science students and Pathology residents and training of new employees.
  • Monitor daily operation of laboratory section or work area.
  • Participate on teams or individually perform special projects/assignments.
  • Perform a variety of routine and standardized tests using standard techniques and equipment.
  • Prepare specimens, resolve specimen problems, and perform analytical tests.
  • Record results of tests and maintain records.
  • Provide test results, reporting deviations from the norm to supervisor or ordering physician.
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technician, Chemical Science, or Biological Science.
  • ASCP or AMT Board of Certification eligible and must receive BOC within a year.
  • None required.
