Job Overview

POSITION OBJECTIVE

The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the protection of hotel property, assets, guests, visitors, and staff.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

60%: Conduct regular patrols of the hotel premises to guarantee the safety of guests and staff while safeguarding all hotel assets. Respond to calls for assistance, ensuring the safety and security of hotel operations. Initiate and complete investigations related to incidents affecting property and individuals. Provide assistance to ill or injured guests and staff, ensuring proper documentation and follow-up on reports.

25%: Inspect all alarm systems, safety equipment, and fire safety systems while closely monitoring the security of building entrances, service areas, and delivery zones.

15%: Supervise safety and security personnel during assigned shifts, ensuring adherence to uniform standards, punctuality, and adequate coverage of hotel grounds. Responsible for scheduling and performance evaluations of security officers.

Additional Responsibilities:

Regular attendance is crucial for the successful execution of this role. Employees may be required to work flexible schedules to meet the operational needs of the hotel. Attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is mandatory.

Upon hiring, all employees must comply with hotel policies and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of hotel facilities. Violations of these policies may result in disciplinary actions, including termination.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS

In addition to the essential functions, this position may involve performing various supportive tasks, as determined by management based on hotel requirements:

  • Assist in maintaining accurate records, reports, and statistics, including shift activity logs and daily summaries.
  • Fulfill special requests from guests, ensuring proper execution.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

The candidate must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Preferred Experience: Background in hotel security.
  • Proficiency in the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
  • Ability to read and write for effective communication.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computational and computer skills.
  • Familiarity with hotel policies and fire safety protocols.
  • Ability to operate two-way radios and understand ten codes.
  • Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local laws regarding employment and safety regulations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Most tasks are performed indoors with a controlled environment.
  • Ability to stand and move efficiently for extended periods.
  • Work is typically performed in a team setting with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds regularly and push/pull heavier equipment in emergencies.
  • Requires good mobility to navigate hotel grounds promptly.
  • Physical activities include grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, and visual acuity.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

EXPERIENCE

A minimum of one year in a security-related role is required.

CERTIFICATIONS

Must be able to obtain and maintain any required licenses or certifications, including CPR and First Aid.

GROOMING STANDARDS

All employees must maintain a neat and professional appearance in accordance with Warwick Hotel standards.
