Unit Supervisor

The City of New York is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Unit Supervisor to join our Child Protective Services team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supervising a unit of Child Protective Specialists and ensuring that all case practice requirements are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide ongoing training and guidance to casework staff to ensure compliance with required face-to-face contacts and visits.
- Assist staff in managing casework workloads and facilitating workflows with other internal and external units.
- Monitor subordinates' compliance with required assessments and service plans.
- Attend departmental conferences and transmit information and policies to staff.
- Monitor time and leave, and rate/evaluate the job performance of subordinates.
- Develop and support staff, and take appropriate disciplinary measures as needed.
- Conduct weekly conferences and review ongoing work assignments with subordinates.
- Document conferences and follow-up to ensure required case practices are completed.
- Conduct field visits for investigations or consultations as needed.
- Maintain accurate count of subordinates' caseloads and unit coverage during vacations.
- Arrange and conduct case conferences when appropriate.
- Present and explain new agency policies and practices to subordinates in a timely manner.
Requirements:
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by 24 semester credits in one or a combination of the following fields: social work, psychology, sociology, human services, criminal justice, education, nursing, or cultural anthropology.
- At least 12 of the 24 semester credits must have been in one of these disciplines.
- 30 semester credits toward a Master's of Social Work degree or toward a graduate degree in a related field.
- 18 months of child protective casework experience.
