Patient Access Representative

The Patient Access Representative plays a critical role in ensuring seamless patient registration and insurance verification processes. This individual will obtain accurate demographics and insurance information, verify patient eligibility, and negotiate patient financial responsibilities. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a high level of empathy to effectively interact with patients and families during traumatic events.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct patient interviews to obtain demographic and financial data for registration, insurance verification, and billing.
Verify patient eligibility for insurance coverage and calculate patient liability according to financial clearance policies.
Negotiate payment arrangements with patients as needed and advise on deposit requirements.
Assist patients with navigation to nursing units, providing directions, personal escort, and medical mobility assistance when necessary.
Adhere to compliance requirements for order validation, cash policy, government payor requirements, and patient safety.
Requirements
2 years of experience in healthcare or customer service, or equivalent education.
Proven ability to problem-solve, perform critical thinking, and maintain a professional demeanor in high-stress environments.
Excellent data entry, numeric, typing, and computer navigational skills, with basic computer skills and Microsoft Office proficiency.
