Position Summary
The Safety Personnel is responsible for ensuring the security and safety of the Micro Shelter's facilities for both residents and staff. This role involves regular patrols of the premises and responding to assistance requests from occupants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct hourly perimeter checks (both interior and exterior) to ensure security.
  • Perform bag inspections and use detection wands as necessary while maintaining professionalism.
  • Welcome and assess individuals entering the facility, ensuring proper authorization and addressing their needs.
  • Remain vigilant and visible at the main entrance to promptly address any security or safety issues.
  • Utilize de-escalation techniques and problem-solving skills to manage challenging situations, fostering a supportive environment.
  • Enforce shelter rules consistently and fairly, while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Document significant incidents and interactions during shifts thoroughly.
  • Adhere to punctuality and attendance standards.
  • Communicate effectively with all staff levels.
  • Demonstrate initiative and sound judgment in all duties.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by supervisors to ensure operational efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Experience in effective interpersonal interactions.
  • Strong communication skills are essential.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One or more years of experience in Security, Safety, Law Enforcement, or Corrections.
  • Prior experience working with homeless families in a shelter setting.
  • Understanding of issues related to domestic violence, mental health, and substance abuse.
  • Training in de-escalation techniques.

Compensation and Benefits
The compensation for this position is $21.00 per hour. Switchpoint offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes Medical, Vision, Dental, Transportation Allowance, Paid Time Off, and an IRA with a 3% match.
