Job Overview

Key Responsibilities:

  • Initiate sales calls to prospective or current clients to build a pipeline of businesses.
  • Prospect for leads and perform heavy cold calling to identify new sales opportunities.
  • Supervise accounts daily to retain existing relationships and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Negotiate prices and services with customers and carriers to meet business objectives.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve targets and grow revenue.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and prospects through effective communication and customer service.
  • Identify and pursue new sales leads to secure business and expand the customer base.
  • Provide quotes to current and prospective clients to meet their shipping needs.
  • Oversee shipments from origin to destination to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction.
  • Utilize Transportation Management System (TMS) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software to manage shipments, look for carriers, dispatch, and close files.
  • Conduct research to identify new business opportunities and expand the customer base.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients through phone and in-person interactions.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in logistics sales, preferably in a transportation brokerage or sales role.
  • University degree or college diploma in a related field, such as business, logistics, or supply chain management.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and growing a book of business in the US and Canadian markets.
  • Knowledge of targets and performance metrics, including Gross Profit (GP) and Revenue per month/Load count handled.
  • Experience with transportation brokerage/sales, marketing multipart logistical solutions to a wide range of clients.
  • Strong sales experience in personal selling, telephone sales, and customer service.
  • Knowledge of transportation modes, including Tradeshow, LTL, FTL, and Air Freight, as well as other supply chain management solutions.
  • Sociable personality with excellent relationship-building skills.
