At Ocean State Job Lot, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Front End Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our store operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the protection of company assets, providing exceptional customer service, and overseeing front-of-store activities in accordance with all company policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain a professional environment, ensuring the best possible experience for customers and sales associates.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures through proper handling of all transactions and corresponding documentation.
  • Issue associate discounts, price overrides, gift certificates, and any other transactions requiring supervisory involvement.
  • Train and supervise all Sales Associates and Secondary Front End Associates.
  • Supervise on all front-end policies and procedures.
  • Schedule to ensure proper coverage at the front end/service desk.
  • Coordinate immediate pre-screening of all applicants by store management.
  • Maintain merchandising standards for register end caps and inboards.
  • Maintain neat, organized, and safe front end/service desk area.
  • Communicate to store management all corporate, associate, and customer issues on a timely basis.
  • Properly handle damages and returns daily according to established company procedure.
  • Operate a cash register, as needed.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 6 months supervisory and customer service desk experience required.
  • Experience in a related retail environment preferred.

Work Environment:

  • Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
  • This position requires extended periods of moving, remaining stationary, ascending, descending, and/or positioning oneself to complete various tasks throughout the shift.
  • Some sedentary activities and near vision use for reading and computer use.
  • Responsible for physical activities including counting cash, using hand tools, ascending or descending a ladder, moving, reaching, and lifting on a frequent basis: should be able to lift 35 lbs on a regular basis.
