Role Summary


Booking Holdings is embarking on a Finance Transformation initiative aimed at enhancing financial support for business operations; ensuring robust governance and control within the organization; and establishing a world-class finance entity recognized for its execution and efficiency.


In alignment with this newly established organization (Global Business Services), we are seeking a Director of Risk & Control (R&C) who will report to the VP of Global Business Services with a dotted line to the VP of Risk and Controls.

This role will be integral to a global leadership team focused on optimizing alignment and efficiency concerning essential risk & control processes within the GBS organization as part of the Finance Transformation Journey.


The R&C Lead will be tasked with developing the GBS R&C Pillar and collaborating with the Controls Integration team.

This initiative spans across all verticals within our Global Business Services Organization, and the Risk & Control Lead will be accountable for establishing the process governance model and the support framework necessary for embedding Risk and Controls throughout all GBS Workstreams.

This will necessitate the definition of clear roles & responsibilities between the Brand R&C Functions and the GBS Risk Function.

The R&C Lead will ultimately oversee the comprehensive risk process moving forward, ensuring ongoing monitoring and future enhancements.


The R&C Lead will also be responsible for formulating the Risk & Controls Transformation vision, strategy, and defining the Target Operating Model.

This includes acquiring a thorough understanding of the current state of the R&C functions at both global and brand levels concerning People, Processes, and Technologies, and identifying opportunities for collaboration, centralization, and automation.

Responsibilities and Duties

The R&C Lead will be responsible for:
Formulating and executing the R&C transformation enterprise strategy by collaborating with and fostering strong relationships with CFOs, Heads of Risks, Chief Accounting Officers, and other executives across the organization to implement a new Global Operating Model for Risk & Control;

Engaging with all R&C Leadership to gain a comprehensive understanding of the current state of these functions at both global and brand levels concerning People, Processes & Technology;

Evaluating the current state and pinpointing opportunities for collaboration, centralization, and automation;


Working closely with the VP of GBS and VP of R&C to develop and deliver the GBS strategy for the R&C Functions. This will involve establishing the vision, assessing impact, and constructing the value proposition;

Developing the GBS R&C Pillar and support framework (Change control procedures & control documentation);

Acting as the risk driver for GBS current and future initiatives;

Serving as the GBS Liaison with other Risk functions and owners to facilitate the execution of Risk Assessments;

Promoting awareness of risk management throughout GBS while maintaining strong stakeholder management, thus being an articulate communicator, fostering collaboration, integrating perspectives, and driving business-positive outcomes;

Creating and delivering training tailored to various audiences and business functions regarding the impact of internal controls & compliance;

Collaborating with support teams & PMO to ensure the new TOM is accurately resourced, communicated, managed & deployed.

Key Skills:
Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or General Management (Advanced Degree or MBA preferred);

Experience in program or project management is required;

Formal continuous improvement (e.g., LEAN / Six Sigma) and/or project management (e.g., PMP) certification/training is desirable;

9/10+ years of progressive experience in Finance, Accounting, or related fields within a complex multinational organization;

Strategic problem solver and advisor for Leadership and Management with a high degree of analytical talent and understanding of business processes;

Comfortable reporting to various management levels, including Director and Vice President;

Thorough understanding of internal controls (e.g., SOx-audits) and experience applying them across different business areas/functions;

Ability to effectively prioritize and manage workload, work under pressure, and meet deadlines;

Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and adaptable work attitude;

Quick thinker with confidence in decision-making;

Process-oriented, problem-solving, and committed approach;

Strong communication and relationship-building skills;

High level of integrity, confidentiality & professionalism;

Ability to cultivate strong relationships with business partners to drive risk management culture and implementation;

Previous experience at a Big 4 firm is advantageous;

Experience with finance processes and/or controls is beneficial;

Experienced Project Manager;

Booking Holdings operates globally, and the position may necessitate up to 25% travel under normal circumstances.
