Position Overview:

We are looking for a skilled and proactive individual to take on the role of Insourced Risk Manager within our Private Equity Real Estate (PERE) division. This position will be dedicated to a significant private equity real estate client while being employed by Lockton. The Risk Manager will collaborate closely with the client's internal risk management team and will be based in one of our offices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the procurement and negotiation of Builder's Risk and Liability insurance for various development initiatives.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive policies and procedures to effectively manage risks, including contract evaluation and negotiation, document oversight, and policy implementation.
  • Assess and enhance current operational methods to align with risk management policies and minimize exposure.
  • Conduct market analysis to evaluate the competitiveness of existing insurance programs while staying informed on trends within the construction and development insurance sectors.
  • Maintain compliance documentation related to third-party insurance obligations.
  • Review and negotiate contracts to ensure adherence to established standards.
  • Oversee enrollments, contracts, and all associated compliance matters.
  • Analyze and comprehend terms and conditions linked to proposed construction and management projects, identifying insurable risks and opportunities for risk mitigation.
  • Provide education and support to operational teams to ensure alignment between project activities, exposures, and suitable insurance coverage.
  • Implement risk management strategies for the client in accordance with their established processes for Business Continuity Management, Emergency Response, Enterprise Risk Management, ESG, and Sustainability.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant business field or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in insurance and/or risk management within the Real Estate development sector.
  • In-depth understanding of real estate development and associated insurance and risk management practices.
  • Direct experience in contract review and negotiation, particularly concerning insurance and indemnity clauses in construction contracts and related agreements.
  • Ability to advise executive teams, legal counsel, asset managers, clients, and business partners on insurance requirements.
  • General knowledge of legal and compliance matters, with experience collaborating with legal counsel.
  • Familiarity with all lines of insurance, including policies, coverage, limits, and fundamental principles.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, interpersonal, communication, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills, with excellent time management and flexibility to handle multiple tasks.
  • Reliable and detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to accuracy.
  • Outstanding client service skills, capable of building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all organizational levels.
