Behavioral Health Support Specialist

Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Behavioral Health Support Specialist to join our team at WellStone Emergency Services (WES). As a key member of our team, you will provide support and guidance to clients experiencing mental health emergencies, work closely with our therapeutic team, and learn documentation standards followed by the Department of Mental Health (DMH).
Key Responsibilities- Client Support: Provide consistent instruction, guidance, encouragement, and reinforcement to clients committed to WellStone Emergency Services (WES).
- Basic Living Skills (BLS) Training: Regularly implement BLS training objectives and document client progress in their Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Documentation: Help coordinate activities, conduct group therapy, document client progress, and maintain electronic documentation.
- Treatment Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Treatment Team to ensure comprehensive care.
- Reporting and Record-Keeping: Regularly complete documentation of staff notes, incident reports, injury reports, shift observations, and other reports.
- Physical Demands: May be required to lift approximately 50 lbs. and push/pull or transport a client or equipment.
- Facility Maintenance: Ensure clients comply with rules, maintain a clean and safe environment, including housekeeping, and assist clients when necessary.
- Safety and Emergency Procedures: Demonstrate good safety skills, including fire drills, emergency procedures, and back safety techniques.
- Positive Work Environment: Promote a positive work environment, including positive relationships with supervisors, clients, and their families and co-workers.
- Medication Administration: Administer medication with supervision as needed.
- Training and Development: Attend staff meetings, in-service meetings, trainings as required, and remain current on all trainings and certifications.
- Time Management and Attendance: Work as scheduled, correctly complete and submit timesheets, leave requests in a timely manner.
- Reporting Facility Issues: Report any facility or maintenance issues in a timely fashion and assist in maintaining the facility and equipment.
- De-escalation Techniques: Perform verbal and at times physical de-escalation techniques as required, in addition to crisis interventions.
- Escorting Clients: May have to escort or guardian clients who are sent to the Hospital for evaluation.
- Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the WES Leadership team.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED.
- Technical Skills: Familiar with Microsoft Office.
- Communication Skills: Excellent Oral and Written Communication Skills.
- Certifications: Certified in (or ability to obtain) CPR, 1st Aide, and SAMA certifications.
