The role of Residential Support Specialist is an excellent entry-level opportunity for individuals aged 18 and above, possessing a high school diploma, and aspiring to make a difference in the Human Services sector. In this capacity, staff members provide essential care for clients within a group home environment, focusing on enhancing living skills, social interactions, financial literacy, and adherence to treatment plans. This position serves as a vital support to our therapeutic team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assume supervisory responsibilities for resident care in the absence of the House Supervisor.
- Deliver consistent guidance, encouragement, and support to residents.
- Implement and document basic living skills training objectives, ensuring timely updates in the Electronic Health Record.
- Facilitate resident activities both within the home and in the community.
- Complete necessary documentation, including staff notes and incident reports, accurately and promptly.
- Assist residents in preparing nutritious meals according to established menus, and perform meal preparations when needed. Physical lifting of approximately 50 lbs may be required.
- Ensure compliance with home regulations, maintaining a safe and clean environment, including performing housekeeping duties as necessary.
- Exhibit strong safety practices, including participation in fire drills and emergency procedures.
- Foster a positive workplace atmosphere, nurturing relationships with supervisors, residents, and their families.
- Supervise and document medication administration.
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions, keeping up-to-date with all required certifications.
- Adhere to scheduled work hours, submitting time sheets and leave requests punctually.
- Report maintenance issues promptly and assist in the upkeep of the facility and equipment.
- This position is part-time on weekends, covering all shifts (8am-4pm, 4pm-12am, 12am-8am) in House 25.
