Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Drug Diversion Practice Coordinator - Technical Specialist to join our team at Northwestern Memorial Healthcare. This role will be responsible for conducting audits of controlled substance compliance and assisting in drug diversion investigations across the system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct Audits and Investigations: Conduct audits of inventories of automated dispensing cabinets and manual logs, administration and wasting documentation, and user access. Assist in drug diversion investigations across the system.
  • Monitor and Follow Up: Monitor and follow up on unreconciled controlled substances dispenses for assigned business units.
  • Validate Discrepancies: Validate controlled substances discrepancy resolutions at assigned business units to validate accuracy.
  • Maintain Dashboards: Participate in maintaining the Drug Diversion Dashboard.
  • Analyze Reports: Review and follow up on regularly processed reports dealing with controlled substances, analyzing for trends or issues.
  • Participate in Task Force: Participate in the Drug Diversion Task Force at assigned business units.
  • Stay Up-to-Date: Maintain specialized acumen in technology and diversion software program for comprehensive auditing and reporting.
  • Present Metrics: Present diversion-related metrics to Local Drug Diversion committees and other stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Support Investigations: Support the Drug Diversion Task Force in the investigation of suspected drug diversion incidents, by reviewing and interpreting data from multiple data sources.
  • Complete Risk Rounding: Complete Drug Diversion Risk Rounding of all areas that store and/or administer controlled substances as assigned.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma
  • Licensure: Illinois Pharmacy Technician License
  • Certification: Board Certified Technician (PTCB)
  • Experience: A minimum of five years' experience in a healthcare setting
  • Skills: Knowledge and understanding of medication dispensing technology, excellent oral and written communication skills, strong knowledge of Microsoft: Word, Excel, Power Point
  • Abilities: Demonstrated ability to effectively establish and maintain working relationships with peers and constituents at all levels of the organization, ability to work collaboratively with diverse, multidisciplinary teams
