Public Works Operations Manager

Lake County Government is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Public Works Operations Manager to join their team.
This role will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Public Works Department, ensuring the smooth delivery of services and projects.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will have a strong background in public works management, with experience in supervising staff, managing budgets, and implementing safety protocols.
They will also be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, including county officials, contractors, and community groups.
Key Responsibilities- Safety Management: Ensure the safety of employees, citizens, and visitors by implementing and enforcing safety protocols, conducting regular inspections, and investigating incidents.
- Staff Supervision: Supervise and mentor a team of public works staff, providing guidance on work procedures, evaluating performance, and making recommendations for training and development.
- Budget Management: Oversee the department's budget, ensuring effective use of resources, identifying areas for cost savings, and making recommendations for improvements.
- Project Management: Develop and implement projects, including infrastructure upgrades, maintenance programs, and special events, ensuring timely completion and within budget.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including county officials, contractors, and community groups, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; 3+ years of public works management experience preferred.
- Certifications: Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Driver's License required; Commercial Driver's License Class A or B preferred.
