Jo's Coffee is an integral part of Bunkhouse, a hospitality brand founded by Liz Lambert, emphasizing inspired design, community connection, and the importance of local culture.

Bunkhouse has developed a renowned collection of hospitality projects, including Hotel San Jos, Hotel Saint Cecilia, Austin Motel, and Jo's Coffee in Austin, as well as Hotel Havana and Ocho in San Antonio, El Cosmico in Marfa, Texas, The Phoenix in San Francisco, California, and Hotel San Cristobal in Baja, Mexico.

We seek candidates who possess:

  • A minimum of six (6) months of experience in the coffee service industry
  • A high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Required certifications and identification as mandated by the U.S. Department of Justice for employment eligibility, including valid TABC Certification and Food Handler Certification
  • Proficiency in the primary language(s) of the workplace
  • Effective communication skills for interactions with colleagues and management
  • Basic understanding of computer systems, including Property Management Systems and Point of Sale systems
  • Mathematical skills for basic calculations involving whole numbers, fractions, and decimals

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow all operational standards, policies, procedures, and training materials
  • Maintain personal hygiene and adhere to the dress code, including wearing the designated uniform and appropriate footwear
  • Curate a welcoming atmosphere through music selection, ensuring appropriateness for the community
  • Show respect for coworkers, customers, and the workplace environment
  • Verify patrons' identification to confirm compliance with age restrictions for alcohol service
  • Provide detailed explanations of menu items and their preparation
  • Accurately take and prepare food and beverage orders
  • Become proficient in the Point of Sale (POS) system to ensure transaction accuracy
  • Restock inventory using the First-in, First-out (FIFO) method
  • Inspect deliveries for accuracy upon arrival
  • Maintain cleanliness throughout the shift, completing assigned cleaning tasks
  • Communicate effectively with all departments and management to address workplace needs
  • Manage time-off requests and confirm schedules with management
  • Uphold cleanliness and safety standards in the work area
  • Ensure all equipment is in safe, working condition
  • Stay informed about safety protocols and emergency procedures
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to every patron
