Jo's Coffee is an integral part of Bunkhouse, a hospitality group founded by Liz Lambert, renowned for its inspired design, community engagement, and appreciation for local culture.

Bunkhouse has developed a distinguished portfolio of hospitality projects, including Hotel San Jos, Hotel Saint Cecilia, Austin Motel, and Jo's Coffee in Austin, as well as Hotel Havana and Ocho in San Antonio, El Cosmico in Marfa, Texas, The Phoenix in San Francisco, California, and Hotel San Cristobal in Baja, Mexico.

We seek candidates who possess:

  • A minimum of six (6) months of experience in the coffee service industry
  • A high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Required certifications and identification as mandated by the U.S. Department of Justice for employment eligibility, including unexpired TABC Certification and Food Handler Certification
  • Proficiency in the primary language(s) of the workplace, including speaking, reading, and writing
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with colleagues and management
  • Familiarity with various computer systems, such as Property Management Systems and Point of Sale
  • Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals

Key Responsibilities:

  • Comply with all operational standards, policies, procedures, manuals, training materials, and verbal instructions
  • Maintain personal hygiene and adhere to dress code policies, including wearing the designated uniform and appropriate footwear
  • Curate a welcoming atmosphere by selecting appropriate music for the community
  • Show respect for fellow team members, customers, and the work environment
  • Verify patrons' identification to ensure compliance with age restrictions for alcohol consumption
  • Provide detailed explanations of menu items, including preparation methods and ingredients
  • Accurately take and prepare food and beverage orders according to specifications
  • Utilize the Point of Sale (POS) system to ensure precise transaction processing
  • Restock items following the First-in, First-out (FIFO) method
  • Inspect deliveries for accuracy upon arrival
  • Maintain cleanliness throughout the shift, adhering to assigned cleaning tasks
  • Foster open communication with all departments and management to address workplace needs
  • Communicate time-off requests and confirm schedules with management
  • Uphold a high standard of cleanliness and safety in the work area
  • Ensure all equipment is in safe and functional condition
  • Stay vigilant regarding safety issues throughout the property
  • Remain informed about safety and emergency procedures, as well as OSHA requirements
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to every patron
