Job Summary

The Colville Tribes is seeking a Para-Educator to assist with individualized and group instruction of students in reading, math, or other instructional areas. The successful candidate will work under the immediate supervision of a classroom teacher and will be responsible for supporting the educational needs of students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with individualized and group instruction of students in reading, math, or other instructional areas.
  • Work under the immediate supervision of a classroom teacher to support the educational needs of students.
  • Develop and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and other school staff to ensure the smooth operation of the classroom.
  • Assist with record keeping and reporting as required.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or higher in Education or a related field.
  • Valid Washington State driver's license and ability to maintain throughout employment.
  • First Aid/CPR certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
  • Proof of degree/transcripts and three written letters of reference to be submitted along with application.
  • Basic knowledge of instructional methods and student behavior.
  • Knowledge and experience working with and supervising Native American children.
  • Ability to understand and apply rules, procedures, and policies.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and subordinates.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a classroom setting.
  • Knowledge of record keeping and reporting.
  • Knowledge of Reservation lifestyles.
