Description

POSITION: Emergency Substitute Educator

SALARY: $26.50

REPORTS TO: Principal

LOCATION: Pascal Sherman Indian School

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: The individual in this position serves as a qualified educator in a secondary school environment, guiding students and deepening their comprehension across various subjects in alignment with the established curriculum. Employs diverse instructional strategies to deliver an engaging academic experience.

Qualifications

Educational and Training Requirements:

  • Must possess a valid teaching certificate from Washington State or be eligible for a conditional teaching certificate.
  • Must secure a First Aid/CPR certification within 30 days of starting employment.
  • Must successfully complete background checks from Washington State, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Colville Tribal History.
  • Must hold a valid Washington State Driver's License and qualify for Tribal Insurance.
  • Must provide proof of degree, academic transcripts, and three letters of reference with the application.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must have experience working within an Indigenous community in an educational capacity.
  • Must be proficient in the use of technology.
  • Must possess outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse array of individuals in a vibrant school setting.
  • Must be capable of managing multiple responsibilities and adjusting to shifting priorities.
  • Must demonstrate strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must adhere to the curriculum guidelines and enforce school policies and procedures.
  • Must accommodate individual learning differences among students.
  • Must maintain accurate records, uphold classroom discipline, and foster a positive learning atmosphere.
  • Must evaluate student performance effectively.
  • Must utilize various teaching materials.
  • Must engage with parents as necessary.
  • Must apply educational principles effectively.
  • Must participate in the development of curriculum.
  • Must fulfill all assigned responsibilities.
  • Must articulate ideas clearly, both verbally and in writing.

Special Requirements: Exceptional writing and public speaking abilities, strong organizational and planning skills, effective teamwork capabilities, comprehensive knowledge of instructional methodologies, a collaborative spirit, group facilitation expertise, and proficiency in problem-solving and conflict resolution.
