Architectural Designer Job Description

IA Interior Architects is seeking a highly skilled Architectural Designer to join our Dallas studio. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading all design phases for interiors projects, establishing the vision, and collaborating with clients to deliver high-performance, visually compelling, and sustainable environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in overall technical design for projects, ensuring seamless integration of design and technical aspects.
  • Direct staff to complete design and technical drawing, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
  • Review design and technical drawing of junior designers, providing constructive feedback and guidance.
  • Review engineering drawings to ensure compliance with design solutions, guaranteeing accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Work with technical staff to resolve inconsistencies in drawings, promoting a culture of quality and precision.
  • Aid in the creation of floor plans, elevations, architectural and millwork details, and overall design intent sets for the Request for Proposal (RFP) process.
  • Review and redline construction documents, shop drawings, and related submittals, ensuring compliance with design specifications.
  • Produce, review, and finalize space plans for projects, guaranteeing accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Extensive knowledge of detailing and finalizing details on projects, ensuring a high level of quality and precision.
  • Review and produce final cost estimates, providing accurate and reliable data to stakeholders.
  • In unusual circumstances, assist with support for field surveys, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
  • Manage overall design budget, ensuring adherence to set budget and immediate notification of any potential variances to the client and project manager.
  • Manage the work of other Designers, overseeing tasks and providing feedback on work product.
  • Organize and conduct client interviews to determine space needs and requirements, fostering strong relationships with clients.
  • Continues to provide needed information to clients on design specifications, demonstrating expertise and knowledge.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of architecture school or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in corporate or workplace design projects, preferably with a strong background in Revit.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Extensive knowledge of design principles, store planning methodology, and furniture layout concepts.
  • Expert sketching and rendering skills, with a strong understanding of architecture detailing.
  • Extensive knowledge of CDs and procedures, building systems, codes, and ADA requirements.
  • Commitment to supporting projects through peaks and valleys, demonstrating a strong work ethic and dedication.
  • Intermediate MS Office Suite skills, with advanced Revit and Adobe Creative Suite skills.
  • Affinity Program skills or equivalent, with extensive verbal and written communication skills.
  • Extensive presentation and graphic communication skills, with the ability to manage and lead staff through a combination of direct authority and subject matter expertise.
