Job Title: Court Deputy

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Court Deputy to join our team at the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office in Florida. As a Court Deputy, you will play a critical role in maintaining order and ensuring the safety of the courthouse complex and adjacent areas.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide security and support during judicial proceedings, responding to emergency situations and carrying out lawful orders as directed by a judge.
  • Maintain continuous surveillance of the courtroom during court sessions, inspecting courtrooms and conducting searches before and after each session.
  • Assist with inmate transport and movement, escorting inmates as needed.
  • Interact with a wide range of individuals, including the general public, attorneys, law enforcement, court clerks, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain proficiency with firearms and other equipment, adhering to department policies and procedures.
  • Monitor radio communications and respond to calls for assistance.
  • Resolve conflicts and diffuse tense situations in a professional and courteous manner.
Requirements:
  • Current certification as a corrections or law enforcement officer in the State of Florida.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a certified detention or law enforcement deputy, with a strong background in security and law enforcement.
  • Ability to pass a thorough background investigation, including a polygraph examination and medical evaluation.
  • Successful completion of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office Physical Abilities Assessment (PAA).
