Associate General Counsel for Litigation and Compliance

The Federal Election Commission seeks a highly skilled and dedicated individual to serve as Associate General Counsel for the Litigation and Compliance Division of the Office of General Counsel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and oversee the division representing the FEC in federal court proceedings.
  • Develop and implement litigation strategies to protect the Commission's interests and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and research litigation nationwide to assess potential impact on FEC's litigation practice and the Agency's interests.
  • Serve as OGC's principal liaison to the Department of Justice with respect to civil litigation in both regulatory and non-regulatory matters.
  • Provide senior advisory services to the General Counsel, the Deputy General Counsel, the Commissioners, and other senior managers in the Commission concerning the Commission's litigation activities, program, and risks.
  • Integrate human capital strategies with the Agency's core mission and business practices by fostering a performance-oriented culture and establishing performance management systems.

Requirements:

  • Extensive litigation experience, outstanding leadership and analytical skills, and the ability to serve as first chair and supervise the argument of cases in all courts.
  • Strong understanding of federal regulations and laws governing elections and campaign finance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior management, staff, and external stakeholders.
