Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Surgical Assistant to join our team at Advocate Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting surgeons and operating room staff in providing high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons and operating room staff in preparing patients for surgery
  • Participate in the preparation and maintenance of the operating room environment
  • Anticipate and respond to the needs of surgeons and operating room staff
  • Provide aseptic surgical techniques in the preparation of materials, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures
  • Ensure the environmental disinfection, safety, and efficiency of the operating room
Requirements
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Surgical Technologist (CST) certification issued by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
  • Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Surgical Technology
  • Typically requires 3 years of experience in a Surgical Technologist or Surgical Assistant position
Working Conditions

The Surgical Assistant will work in a fast-paced environment and be required to lift up to 50 lbs, push/pull with 30 lbs of force, and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs with a second person present.
