Job Summary

As an Optometric Ophthalmic Technician at Advocate Health, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our ophthalmic team. Your primary responsibilities will include preparing exam rooms, assisting physicians, and performing diagnostic tests. You will also be responsible for maintaining equipment, sterilizing instruments, and assisting with scheduling patients. Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare exam rooms and work areas, including cleaning, stocking, and ordering supplies.
  • Assist physicians with patient exams and obtain and record patient information.
  • Perform basic diagnostic tests, such as visual field and acuity tests.
  • Maintain and calibrate equipment, and sterilize instruments using appropriate techniques.
  • Assist with scheduling patients and may assist with basic or routine surgical procedures.

Requirements
  • High School Graduate.
  • No experience required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office products, electronic mail, and electronic medical records systems.

Working Conditions
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders frequently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. without assistance.
  • Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch.
