Job SummaryAs an Optometric Ophthalmic Technician at Advocate Health, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our ophthalmic team. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare exam rooms and work areas, including cleaning, stocking, and ordering supplies.
- Assist physicians with patient exams and obtain and record patient information.
- Perform basic diagnostic tests, such as visual field and acuity tests.
- Maintain and calibrate equipment, and sterilize instruments using appropriate techniques.
- Assist with scheduling patients and may assist with basic or routine surgical procedures.
Requirements
- High School Graduate.
- No experience required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months.
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft office products, electronic mail, and electronic medical records systems.
Working Conditions
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders frequently throughout the workday.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. without assistance.
- Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch.
