Job Summary

This dynamic position offers a unique opportunity to work independently during overnight shifts, showcasing autonomy and expertise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate medical problems of patients in the in-patient setting, devise a management plan of care, and request consultation of other specialties when indicated.
  • Provide education to patients and/or families about preventive care, medical issues, and use of prescribed medical treatments and/or medications.
  • Create diagnostically appropriate treatment plans and document all medical evaluation, diagnoses, procedures, treatments, outcomes, education, referrals, and consultations.
  • Refer complex and high-priority cases to collaborating physicians and provide medical and emergency interventions appropriate to the patient's needs.
  • Maintain collegiality with all members of the inter-disciplinary team and utilize appropriate chain-of-command.
Requirements
  • Nurse Practitioners must have an MSN with a nurse practitioner focus and be a licensed RN by the Virginia Board of Nursing and a certified nurse practitioner.
  • Physician Assistants must have an MPA and be a licensed Physician Assistant within the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • BLS and ACLS Certification required.
Work Environment

This position offers a unique opportunity to work independently during overnight shifts, showcasing autonomy and expertise. The APP will have access to remote physician support as needed, ensuring a collaborative and supportive environment.
